Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V)
A phased approach to testing, primarily used in the military and by defense contractors, which combines both validation and verification.
An example of these terms follows.
Validation: the contractor validates that the system meets specifications. This activity happens at the contractor?s facilities.
Verification: the client (usually military or government) verifies that the system meets the client?s requirements. This second activity usually happens at the client?s facilities.
