Testing to ensure that a system continues to operate even after portions of the system become inoperable, continuing to provide either the full, normal or less-than-full capabilities of the system. Examples, testing the back-up dial-up mode when the direct line connection is down, testing capabilities in a multi-server network when one of the servers is disconnected.
